For the 2011 edition of Kerkmeester of the Nieuwe Kerk, is Dutch couturier Mart Visser crowned as ‘Kerkmeester’. From August 26th till October 2^nd De Nieuwe Kerk in Amsterdam will be transformed into his own designed installation, focused on past and recent Dutch designers.

Bridal couture will be a big part of his showcase because for Visser, marriage is inseparable with De Nieuwe Kerk. “For the installation I specifically chose for the wedding dress. It’s always the last piece of a couture show and often the designers master piece. Also, a lot of wedding dresses are white, which will bring more serenity in De Nieuwe Kerk”.

Vogue’s 2009 style icon, Alexa Chung will be the new face of Danish fashion label Vero Moda. The British model / TV-personality will represent Vero Moda in four brand new campaigns, starting in November. The first shoot will take place in the following days in New York, where Alexa is currently living.

The label’s spokesperson Katja Hundrup, said in the press release that they chose Alexa to make a real statement for Vero Moda. “She’s a very fashionable women who will definitely point out the trends and different styles of Vero Moda. She’s is more than just a model and really matches will with our main audience.” The fashion label announced they are honored to work with Alexa and are looking forward to working with her.

London is officially named the world’s biggest fashion capital! (even bigger than New York!) This conclusion was reached following a research by the Global Language Monitor.

During this research, they followed the frequency of London-based, fashion-related words, phrases and name seen in print, online and social media. According to Global Language Monitor, genuine media stars Kate Middleton and Alexander McQueen have much influence on the fashion scene of London, which makes London number one in the global rankings.

New York became second, followed by Paris, Milan and LA. Newcomers were Berlin and Singapore, at position 8 and 10.

After his announcement of getting engaged with his longtime boyfriend Lance LePere, the ‘happy couple’ is now married. They decided to get married right after gay marriage got legalized in the state of New York. They have been together since 1990 when they met each other on Michael Kors’ office where LePere came as an intern.   

To People Magazine Michael said earlier: “We think it’s great that after all those years of being together we can now finally get married in our own state.”

Unfortunately there have been no photo’s of the ceremony released yet. So for now there’s no telling of how the couple looked like on their important day.
