Anna Wintour & friends for Obama

With the upcoming American elections coming up in November, Anna Wintour must have thought it was time for some action. The editor-in-chief of fashion bible Vogue will, alongside with 22 top designers, start a campaign for the re-election of president Obama.

Designers as Alexander Wang, Diane von Fürstenberg, Jason Wu and Marc Jacobs are also having the American politics on their mind, as they were all willing to help Ms. Wintour in her campaign to help re-elect the first African-American president. The designers will collaborate to create special items as bags and t-shirts of which all of the profits will go to the Obama Victory Fund. Also, in February there will be a special ‘Runway to Win’ fashion-event, organized by Anna Wintour.

This is not the first time that the world-renowned editor-in-chief of the American Vogue steps to the plate for the elections. Four years earlier she also held all kinds of events to raise money for Obama’s campaign budget.

A funny fact is, that LVMH doesn’t want its brands to participate with Anna Wintour political fashion events, because they’re afraid to lose their republican customers. Abide by the wishes of the big boss, Donna Karan chose not to be part of the campaign. Marc Jacobs, who is the head designer of Louis Vuitton, took the more rebellious way and chose to show his support for Obama as well.

Cavalli: behind the scenes

Roberto Cavalli’s Spring collection is a real jaw dropper with its floral pleated skirts and gold-sequined numbers.  The behind-the-scenes video, taken at the Spring ‘12 ad campaign shoot at New York’s Pier 59, give you a closer look at those embossed python jackets and silk printed dresses. The lead part is for Cavalli’s muses-of-the-moment: Naomi Campbell, Karen Elson, Kristen McMenamy, and Daphne Groeneveld—women he chose because they “embody the standards of a modern appeal.”

Behind the brand: American Vintage

With the French fashion brand American Vintage, Little Soho is sure to provide you all with the best looking basics for the upcoming season!
Head designer of American Vintage, Mikaël Azoulay roamed the streets with a curious and instinctively mind to find out a way to give basic items a renewing and original touch. Together with a team of designers he sat around the table, and American Vintage was born.
The simplicity and authenticity of the basics, combined with newest trends and style makes American Vintage the pure and unique fashion label that it is. Not only being a lust for the eye by its racy colour palette, American Vintage’s garments are also a fine and delicate feeling for the body.

Collection Spring/Summer 2012
Get hypnotized by the beautiful and inspiring colours American Vintage uses for their Spring/Summer collection 2012. Think electric blue, mango and fuchsia meets more acid pastel tones like kaolin, medlar and sky blue.
It’s all about mixing and matching this season and not only with colours. Fabrics, patterns and even shapes are screaming for the right mix.
Combine the more casual but lovely soft cotton with the elegant silk. Geometric, ethnic and floral prints go great with the more neutral and solid colours.
Simple elegance but with a touch of outrageous craziness might just sum it all up. And if you are not afraid to combine, then you are so ready for summer! Click here to see the American Vintage collection at Little Soho!
