New Brand: Paul & Joe

Sophie Albou loves chic, retro details of the 1920’s and 30’s. In 1995 she crafted those details into the designs of her own brand Paul & Joe, which she named after her two sons. Her brand is about having fun and wearing the clothes you love and want to wear. Besides the chic and retro details that are crafted into her contemporary and modern designs, this Parisian has a romantic, delicate style and is a fan of using beautiful colours. Next to Paul & Joe, Sophie also created a more playful and affordable clothing line for women, called Paul & Joe Sister. And she also thought about a line for men, kids and and even a cosmetic line!
A brand to fall in love with.

Paul & Joe will be soon available at Little Soho.

New fragrances Dior Addict

Eau Fraîche and Eau Sensuelle are the names of the summery perfumes that Dior Addict recently added to its collection. A sunny commercial with the Dutch model Daphne Groeneveld in the lead was created to promote these fresh and flowery fragrances.

My First Car by Viktor & Rolf and Bugaboo

Pushing a pram was never that fashionable until Viktor & Rolf designed one. Bugaboo asked the designers to collaborate with them and so they did. The design is a surreal and ironic approach of the concept stroller. A lot of the details refer to a car which makes pushing this pram also very cool for dads!

Interested? My First Car is for sale from September 2012 at selected stores.

Paris: the fashion place to be

While thinking of Paris, one thing comes to mind immediately: fashion. The city once again proves to be the fashion capital of the world with three highly inspiring fashion expo’s. Are you planning to visit Paris? Make sure you don’t miss out on this:

1. Louis Vuitton & Marc Jacobs at Les Arts Decoratifs (until September 16th)

This exhibition shows in what way these creative persons influenced the history of fashion.

2. Christian Lacroix at Centre National du Costume de Scène (until December 31st)

Last year The Ballet de l’Opera de Paris danced the famous ballet from the 19th century La Source. The dancers wore costumes of Christian Lacroix. These fragile and gracious costumes are now viewable at the exhibition.

3. Balenciaga & Kawakubo at Cité de la Mode et du Design (until October 7th )

This exposition shows two designers who are totally different: Balenciaga and Kawakubo. The classical haute couture of Balenciaga is shown next to the pioneering work of Kawakubo.

Western Muslim Fashion

Muslim fashion is one of the most increasing markets in the Western world. Young Muslim women are looking for conservative, elegant and modern designer clothing. One of the designers who helps these beautiful young ladies is Barjis Coahan (Vivienne Westwoods protégé). Coahan is doing a great job with her stylish and modest clothing line BARJIS.
More and more women embrace Muslim fashion. Even celebrities as Kate Moss and Twiggy adore Cohans designs!

Go Green!

We have heard a lot about green fashion the past few years but also the coming years will be all about sustainability. At least, according to the brand Marks & Spencer. After 4 years of work, they finally finished the most sustainable suit in the world. This suit is made of Australian organic wool and was dyed in Italy with a special environment friendly technique. The stitching of the suit is made of recycled PET-bottles, the zippers are made of recycled polyester and the buttons are made of old buttons that otherwise would have ended on the dumping ground. Even though the suit is almost completely sustainable, it is still fashionable and has a good fit according to the brand.

Superheroes

Superheroes are allowed to enter the fashion world! Our childhood life savers, in notable outfits, have inspired fashion designers to create some amazing garments. Tight pants, latex suits and leather items are a few things that we’re going to see on the runways next season. Will everyone walk the streets looking like Superman and Wonderwoman?

Trend Comeback

We’re still waiting for the summer to come but meanwhile we’re already taking a sneak peek of what’s coming this fall. At the London Fashion Week the big fashion houses showed what they have in store for us next season.

You quite often see the return of the trends that were in style decades ago. But this fall a trend of not even two years back has hit the runways again. Hopefully you didn’t throw away your army green just yet because the military look is going to be totally hot this fall!

Coca Cola & Jean Paul Gaultier

Probably, Coca Cola doesn’t come to mind when you think of a super fashionable drink. But it sure is! Since Jean Paul Gaultier designed the limited edition of Coca Cola bottles named ‘Night & Day’, Coca Cola is the drink to be seen with! The design for the ‘Day’ bottle is inspired by Gaultier’s famous stripes and the ‘Night’ bottle reminds of his famous bra design. In the Dutch department store de Bijenkorf you’ll find these fashionable bottles, but hurry up before the limited edition is sold out!

Lady Gaga scores the September issue!

She did it! The most desirable cover of the year, the September issue of the American Vogue, is reserved by Lady Gaga! This isn’t her first Vogue cover though. In 2011 her picture adorned the March issue; the second bestselling Vogue that year. Her photo for the September issue was shot by de famous photographers duo Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott. Apparently the colour purple, one of the trend colours of coming autumn/ winter 2012, was used a lot in the photos.

Get in the purple mood yourself with these fabulous items:
