Be flirty, free & have fun

The Flapper Girls of the twenties were a little naughty. They smoke, drunk and wore lots of make-up. But the clothes were fabulous! In the decade of the self-conscious women, clothes were studded with shiny decorations and had fringes everywhere. An elegant look above all!

Let’s get some Flapper Fashion back to 2012!

New Trend: Bright Blazer

Thank you Beyoncé, Olivia and Kim for promoting the bright blazer! We love the statement colours that brighten up any outfit.. and any room!
The blazers can be worn casual and chic. Wear it with  jeans and flats at day time and put your high heels on with stylish black pants for going out.

Keep the rest of your outfit low key, your bright blazer will do the work!

Olympic Look

Behind all the fancy dresses and high heels in our closet, we hide our comfy clothes. It’s a ‘secret’ outfit that we used to wear only at home,  for nobody’s eyes to see. But those days are over. This season we’re allowed to kick those sneakers everywhere!

The Olympic fever made the sporty look totally trendy and the runways were filled with models in trendy sport outfits. We love the sporty look, what about you?

Titanic’s sunken fashion

Last weekend it was exactly 100 years ago the Titanic sank. We’ve all seen the movie and saw the magnificent clothes the elite women wore. But what were exactly the fashion trends back in 1912?

One of the trends was to smooth the hips with a corset.
Over these corsets they wore beautiful evening dresses. Mainly in pale colours but lemon yellow, blue and pink were popular too. Purple on the other hand was generally avoided because it looked brown in gas light.

Dresses were decorated with elements such as pleating, draping, beading, embroidery lace and fringes. A striking thing was that the decoration was often asymmetrically placed.

It’s funny how the pale colours an decoration found their way back this summer!

Bikini Trends Summer 2012

Stylish prints are everywhere this season and the bikinis cannot stay behind! We personally are very excited about the ‘scarf-print’. All the prints that we used to see on our scarves are now printed on our swimwear.
And what do you think about all the fringes, ruffles, bright/neon colours and stitched flowers that cover our beachy wardrobe? Not always handy when jumping into the ocean, but it looks simply divine on the beach.

It is hard work to stay fashionable this summer, because wearing just a bikini doesn’t do it. Your look is not complete without a colourful bag, high sandals, a long breezy (printed) dress or a BLAZER!
The blazer worn over the bikini was spotted multiple times on the runway. Too much for you? Then focus on the accessories. This year we’re going to wear big necklaces, bracelets and scarves. Too much is not enough this season!

Iris van Herpen at the Groninger Museum

From 24 March to 23 September 2012, the Groninger Museum will present the first large-scale solo exhibition of the work of Iris van Herpen, one of the most striking designers of this moment. The exhibition offers an overview of her work from 2008 to the present. A selection of her most recent work, such as Capriole and the Micro collection that is to be shown in January 2012, will also be on display.

Naomi Campbell for Pinko’s S/S 2012 collection

Bit by bit, you can shop more spring and summer items by Pinko at Little Soho. To give their sexy summer collection some extra spice and power, they’ve got fierce top model, Naomi Campbell, as their figurehead. Take a look and see the making of the Pinko ad campaign, with Ms. Campbell as the leading lady.

Cavalli: behind the scenes

Roberto Cavalli’s Spring collection is a real jaw dropper with its floral pleated skirts and gold-sequined numbers.  The behind-the-scenes video, taken at the Spring ‘12 ad campaign shoot at New York’s Pier 59, give you a closer look at those embossed python jackets and silk printed dresses. The lead part is for Cavalli’s muses-of-the-moment: Naomi Campbell, Karen Elson, Kristen McMenamy, and Daphne Groeneveld—women he chose because they “embody the standards of a modern appeal.”
