Love your new do, Michelle

All politics aside; Michelle Obama is one fashionable first lady. Miss Obama revealed her sassy new haircut during the Inaugural events and is the talk of the town ever since. “Today starts President Obama’s next four years in the White House,” Joan Rivers tweeted on Monday. “Let’s hope the same isn’t true about the first lady’s new hairdo.”

We at Little Soho, however, salute Michelle for having the guts to try out a daring new look. And we’re not the only ones who are in love with Misses Obama’s new bangs. Mister President himself agrees with us. Michelle’s hubby started his speech talking about his wife’s stylish ways. “Now first of all, I love Michelle Obama. And to address the most significant event of this weekend: I love her bangs.”  Don’t you just love a man that notices his wife’s new do?

OPEN LETTER TO CHANEL

Dear Chanel,

“The world turns and we turn with it. Plans disappear, dreams take over.”

We’re guessing someone in Ukraine wrote that in Italian, and then paid a native-Mandarin speaker to translate it into something that has to resemble English. Or maybe you just typed random words into Google translate. And then you got in John Wright, made him wave a lightbulb around in the air, before collecting a cheque bigger than most people’s lifetime earnings for directing Brad to sprout that drivel in ‘artistic’ hushed tones.

Oh dear, dear Chanel.

All you had to do was give him a haircut, get rid of that silly facial hair and make him take a shower.

Film him with his shirt off.

Spritz-spritz.

Fade.

The End.

It really isn’t rocket science.
With love,

Golden Lion for best dress goes to?

Last Wednesday the 69th edition of the oldest film festival in Venice was opened with the world première of the movie The Reluctant Fundamentalist by Mira Nair. Sixteen movies will compete against each other in the battle to win the Golden Lion for best movie.

Last year the Golden Lion went to Aleksandr Sokurov for his movie Faust. For the presented celebrities it was thé opportunity to show their most outstanding red-carpet dresses in this lovely ‘gondola-city’. We picked some of our favourite dresses. Would you go for Kate’s, Laetita’s or Kasia’s style??

Oscars 2011: which dress do you like the most?

Yesterday was the 83rd edition of the Oscar Awards and the attention was certainly not only focused on the potential winners…For us fashion lovers the real prize is what all the nominated actresses are wearing on the red carpet.  This year many actresses ‘played it safe’ with classy red and black dresses. The pregnant Oscar-winner Natalie Portman looks amazing in her dress of Rodarte. And for us, Halle Berry (in Marchesa), Michelle Wiliams (in Chanel Haute Couture) and Hilary Swank (in Gucci Premiere) stood out. They went for good old Hollywood glitz and glamour, opting for dresses enriched with lace and sequins in a figure hugging silhouet. Just as it should be!
