Anna Wintour & friends for Obama
With the upcoming American elections coming up in November, Anna Wintour must have thought it was time for some action. The editor-in-chief of fashion bible Vogue will, alongside with 22 top designers, start a campaign for the re-election of president Obama.
Designers as Alexander Wang, Diane von Fürstenberg, Jason Wu and Marc Jacobs are also having the American politics on their mind, as they were all willing to help Ms. Wintour in her campaign to help re-elect the first African-American president. The designers will collaborate to create special items as bags and t-shirts of which all of the profits will go to the Obama Victory Fund. Also, in February there will be a special ‘Runway to Win’ fashion-event, organized by Anna Wintour.
This is not the first time that the world-renowned editor-in-chief of the American Vogue steps to the plate for the elections. Four years earlier she also held all kinds of events to raise money for Obama’s campaign budget.
A funny fact is, that LVMH doesn’t want its brands to participate with Anna Wintour political fashion events, because they’re afraid to lose their republican customers. Abide by the wishes of the big boss, Donna Karan chose not to be part of the campaign. Marc Jacobs, who is the head designer of Louis Vuitton, took the more rebellious way and chose to show his support for Obama as well.
